Rachel Boyd Guiding Christian Heritage Boys Soccer Team to Successful Season

Dalton, GA-(WDEF-TV) The Christian Heritage boys soccer team foot-stomped their way to a 10-0 victory Tuesday in the state playoffs.
The Lions have a strong senior class, and a female head coach in Rachel Boyd.
As Brian Armstrong reports, Boyd is leading the best team in school history.

Most boys high school soccer coaches don’t get mistaken as the athletic trainer. But that was the case for Christian Heritage head coach Rachel Boyd.

Said Boyd:”I don’t see it as much but what I would see is a lot of confusion out of the other teams coach. Not disrespect just confusion mistaking me for the athletic trainer, an assistant coach. At the coin toss coaches are like why am I shaking her hand. I believe people really do respect me. And I haven’t heard anything negative.”

She started coaching Christian Heritage middle school boys soccer five years ago.

The next year those boys entered high school and there was no boys high school coach so she took the job. Now that group of 8th grade boys she started with are now seniors. She says she is going to miss this senior class because there is such a bond.

Said Boyd:”They probably see me like an older sister or mom. But I am not hesitant to show them I love them. To be really intentional with them and I feel like we all really know and have a good pulse on the heart of each of our players and what they are going through in life.”

Boyd has installed a culture of hard work, and letting her players have fun
