Chattanooga, TN (WDEF)- The mother of a convicted murderer took a plea deal related to a 2016 gang murder in Chattanooga Friday morning.

Chernika Ramsey had been charged with facilitation to commit first degree murder and especially aggravated kidnapping in the death of Bianca Horton in Chattanooga.

You may recall that Andre Grier was recently convicted of Horton’s murder, as prosecutors say his gang, the Athens Park Bloods, killed Horton to prevent her from testifying in a previous case.

That case involved Cortez Sims, who is the son of Chernika Ramsey, as he was convicted of killing Talitha Bowman and paralyzing Horton’s daughter Zoey in a shooting.

Prosecutors say if Ramsey’s case went to trial, they would present evidence that she conspired with Grier and another Athens Park Blood member to kill Horton.

Prosecutor Collin Campbell, who also prosecuted Grier, said, “You can audibly hear a phone call where Ms. Ramsey asks Mr. Grier, “What are you going to do to free your little homie?” In which the homie stands in for her son.”

Friday’s plea deal dropped those two felony charges, as Ramsey pleaded guilty to solicitation to commit witness tampering, a misdemeanor.

That comes with a sentence of a year of probation.

Courtney High previously also pleaded guilty to Horton’s murder, and Charles Shelton, a third gang member charged with her murder, died in jail before his case was resolved.
