Red Bank Gets a Crack at a Region Title as They Host Notre Dame in Regular Season Finale

Red Bank, TN-(WDEF) The curtain comes down on the high school football regular season tonight for our Tennessee teams, and Red Bank is hoping to close it out with their first region crown since 2009.
The Lions host Notre Dame with the winner taking home the region title.
After starting the season 1-3, Lions coach Chad Grabowski admits his confidence level wasn’t too high for a region title.
Said Grabowski:”It’s a chance that I don’t think we realized that we were going to have at the beginning of the year, playing who we played and some of that stuff.”(chuckles)
One of those early losses came against Howard.
The Hustlin’ Tigers have since forfeited that win for using an ineligible player, but you can’t erase the memory of that setback.
Said defensive end Jamel Davis:”We had that big loss against Howard. It was really like something had to change, and so we changed it. Now we are on a four game winning streak.”
The Lions only losses now have been against powerhouse teams Baylor, McCallie, and Alcoa. Coach Grabowski likes scheduling the big boys.
Said Grabowski:”Being able to play against teams and seeing teams like that. When you get in the playoffs, that’s what you are going to see. You’re going to see those good teams that can execute and have physical teams and have the better players and stuff like that.”
Maybe playing those good teams helped intensify practice.
Said Grabowski:”Since the McCallie game we went on a four game stand and man are practices have just been lights out. They’ve just been great practices. These guys come with a purpose and really get after it.”
Davis:”It was a change in practice. It was a big change in practice. We started working harder. Lot of physical stuff.”
Now the Lions are in the spotlight tonight, playing Notre Dame for the region crown.
Said running back Zay Brown:”It’s very exciting. I’m very happy. I hope. I really want to win. Like it’s so exciting.”
