Body recovered from scene of overnight house fire in Red Bank

UPDATE: Officials now say a body has been recovered from the home that burned overnight.

There was no initial report that anyone was missing following the midnight fire.

RED BANK, Tenn. (WDEF) – A home in Red Bank was gutted by fire overnight.

The homeowner at 604 Bitsy Lane says he woke to loud popping noises around midnight.

He found heavy smoke and flames coming from his basement.

He got out of the house safely and called the fire department.

Crews from Red Bank, Walden’s Ridge, Soddy Daisy and Dallas Bay all responded.

But it was too late to save the home.

They had to make a “defensive attack” because of a structural collapse on the back side.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
