Red Bank Hoping to Reload For Another Deep Playoff Run
Red Bank, TN-(WDEF-TV) Red Bank was knocking on the door of the state title game last year before falling in the playoff semifinals.
Even though the Lions have lost a couple of key players on offense, they expect to reload for another fantastic season.
Since 2017, Red Bank has made the quarterfinals or further in the state playoffs.
So yeah, the Lions expect to play into late November once again.
Said head coach Ted Gatewood:”Well it’s expectations. You want that. You understand that as a coach. It’s going to be there. It’s going to be that albatross that kind of hangs there. But I mean, that’s the way it is. If you’re on the other side, you don’t want to be on the other side.”
You also don’t want to be on the other side, facing Lions dynamic defensive end Kobe Smith.
Reporter:”As a quarterback do you notice Kobe Smith?”
Said quarterback Eric Hill:”Yes. I notice Kobe Smith, especially in practice.”
Said Gatewood:”The thing about Kobe is. Doesn’t matter where he is, he’s going to have an impact. The young man is. He’s the epitome of playing relentless.”
Gatewood could use some relentless runners to replace 3-thousand-yard rusher A.D. Crutcher.
Said running back Malik Rizer:”A.D.? He was basically the workhorse of the team, and he was the leader. This year I feel like our running back room is more deeper compared to previous years.”
Gatewood also believes it will be beneficial for the Lions when they line up against Bradley Central in October.
Said Gatewood:”I mean I believe in playing quality people. I know Coach Floyd does a great job with his program, and that’s a challenge for us because we’ll see those types of programs when we get in the playoffs.”
