Red Bank man charged with attempted arson after fire ignites inside the CBC
CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee (WDEF) – A Red Bank man is in jail on a $70,000 bond after being accused of trying to destroy a downtown business by setting it on fire.
Cody Waggoner, 21, was arrested late Tuesday night and charged with one count of attempted aggravated arson.
According to an arrest affidavit obtained by News 12, the alleged crime happened Saturday night inside the Chattanooga Billiards Club on Cherry Street.
The affidavit states that Waggoner was seen on surveillance video going into the men’s restroom at 7:45 then exiting the restroom five minutes later.
Immediately after leaving the restroom, a patron walked inside and discovered a fire. The blaze was extinguished by a club employee.
According to police, Waggoner set fire to several roles of toilet paper before leaving the restroom.
No injuries were reported.
