Renovation of Howard Middle School begins
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Crews have starting demolishing the inside of the old Howard Middle School.
The new Howard Middle School is scheduled to be ready by August of next year.
School will begin with about 1-hundred 50 incoming 6th graders, and expand later to cover 6th through 8th grades.
The whole interior space of the school will be redesigned.
Jill Levine who heads the school system’s Opportunity Zone tells us, “Demo has started and the design.”
“We have the second draft of the designs here, we’re really waiting to hear from the community tonight and tomorrow morning to get a sense of ideas for the programs that they’d like to see, or the offerings that they’d like to see in the school, and we’ll finalize designs over the next couple of months.”
There will be chances for Parents and community members to give their input before the final design is completed for Howard Middle School.
The community meetings are Thursday at 5PM and Friday at 8:30 AM at the Howard High gym.
