Rep. Rose describes what he saw in the Covenant School Shooting documents
NASHVILLE, Tennessee (WDEF) – A Tennessee Congressman has finally reviewed documents on the Covenant School shooting in Nashville more than two years ago.
Three students and three adults were killed in the attack.
But police withheld documents from the public on the shooter’s motives.
Police agencies often hold back inflammatory writings by mass shooters to keep from spreading their message.
But this one became a political football.
In fact, a Metro police official has been charged with leaking some of those documents.
After a long battle with the FBI, Rep. John Rose was given access to more than 2,000 pages of documents on the shooting on Thursday.
His requests were rejected by the FBI under the Biden administration and the Metro Nashville Police.
But new FBI Director Kash Patel allowed him to view the information.
Here are some of Rep. Rose’s comments after seeing them:
“Today, as difficult as it was to view this material, it was also important for transparency in government. We must never accept the kind of censorship we saw surrounding this shooter. In no other mass tragedy do we see every piece of evidence shielded from the public.”
“Like many of you, I have long suspected some of this information was shielded from public view because this shooter considered herself to be transgender. “
While the Congressman said the documents would disturb anyone, he did not release any of the details.
