Reporter to Gus Malzahn: Why Were You Given a 5th Season at Auburn?

SEC media days wrapped up in Hoover, Alabama, on Thursday.
Auburn coach Gus Malzahn faced the media frenzy.
Even though the Tigers went to the Sugar Bowl last season, one reporter wanted to know if Malzahn was maybe on the hot seat, given his record on the Plains.
Reporter:”Your record is almost identical to Gene Chizik your predecessor. Why were you given a fifth season at Auburn?”
Said Malzahn:”I mean we were the number two team in the SEC last year, and we went on a real good run. It was pretty unfortunate we had a couple of key injuries late. But this year, I’m really looking forward to the year. Think we have a chance to compete for a championship. That was an interesting question.”
