Reports of active shooting in Athens

ATHENS, Tenn. (WDEF) – A shooter is down, and located after an active shooting at a business in Athens.

The incident is taking place on Dennis Street, at a business called Thomas and Betts.

Thomas and Betts is a construction service and supply company.

McMinn County Sheriff Joe Guy is asking people to stay away from the area.

There are reports of fatalities, but those have not been confirmed at this point.

The plant is very close to McMinn County High School as well.

The TBI is now in charge of investigating the case.
