Reward offered for information in 2018 Alabama homicide

OPELIKA, Ala. (WDEF) — The Opelika Police Department in central Alabama is still searching for answers in a homicide investigation from 2018. CrimeStoppers are now offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.

The police department said 21-year-old Octavious Bennett was killed on July 31, 2018, just before midnight at the Hickory Haven Trailer Park.

Witnesses told police that Bennett was in the living room playing video games with his friends when they heard gunshots outside. A bullet went through the wall of the house and struck Bennett. He died from his gunshot injury, according to police.

Authorities are still investigating and ask anyone with information on this incident to report it.
