Reward Offered in Chattanooga Dog Fighting Case

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WDEF) – A black and white pitbull recently turned up on Dorsey Street with hundreds of scars.

Jamie McAloon Lampman, the Executive Director at McKamey Animal Center, says, "It definitely had evidence of dog fighting, multiple dog fighting instances."

The injuries were so serious, he had to be put down.

That prompted the McKamey Animal Center to hand out reward flyers around Dorsey Street.

McAloon Lampman adds, "We did get some information back that there was another dog that was injured as well probably about two to three blocks away from that area. We picked that dog up, had very similar scars, but not as severe by any means."

While the wounds heal on 1-year-old Oksana, McKamey is looking for more dogs who need their help.

McAloon Lampman says, "Sometimes they’ll drop these dogs in a neighborhood far away from where the fight was, sometimes the dog gets away, sometimes it’s right next door. You never know."

Thursday morning, the reward for more information leading to an arrest sas $500.

Hours later, it grew to $750.

McAloon Lampman says, "We’ve gotten multiple tips already, so we’re encouraged by that. And the reward is even going up because we’ve had several people who want to donate to the reward."

It’s been almost one year since McKamey has seen a dog fighting operation.

Last May, they took 12 dogs out of a home on Talladega Avenue.

McAloon Lampman adds, "It’s pretty serious. I mean they could get prison time. It’s possible."

If you have any information on local dog fighting operations, you’re asked to call the McKamey Animal Center.
