Rhea County man arrested for criminal homicide

RHEA COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A man was arrested for a homicide in Rhea County Friday evening.

Jackie Lee Goss shot a man at 120 Burke Lane, according to Rhea County Sheriff Mike Neal.

The victim was Junior Hickman, police said.

Officers arrived to Burke Lane shortly before 6 p.m. Friday. Here, they found Hickman deceased.

Police say both individuals involved were from Dayton, Tennessee.

Sheriff Neal said the suspect fled the scene on foot. Soon after, officers found Goss. They said there was no incident during his arrest.

Officers took Goss to Rhea County Jail.

He is being charged with one count of criminal homicide.

The sheriff’s department said they are still investigating.
