Ringgold Has Unique Playoff Tiebreaker Riding on Game Against Gordon Lee

Ringgold, GA-(WDEF-TV) Final week of the regular season for Georgia high school football teams.
Ringgold, Gordon Lee, and Coahulla Creek are all fighting for two playoff spots out of their region.
So somebody won’t make it.
For Ringgold, their playoff tiebreaker predicament is rather unique.

Coaches are good at running the football, but running the numbers to figure out a playoff tie-breaker scenario.
Good luck.
Said Ringgold head coach Austin Crisp:”We talked about the seeding and how crazy it can be. I talked to Coach Carter down at Coahulla Creek and asked him how crazy it can be. We’re all kind of in the same predicament. Bunch of football coaches trying to do match. It’s not a very good thing.”
Reporter:”He says it’s kind of dangerous for coaches to do math. (laughter) Would you agree with that.”
Said Ringgold lineman Brent Raby:”I mean probably.” (laughter)
So here’s the deal.
Ringgold has to beat Gordon Lee to make the playoffs.
Pretty simple.
But if Ringgold wins by four or more points, they get a three seed in the playoffs.
If they win by less than four, they get a four seed.
It all stems from the point differentials in the head-to-head games with Gordon Lee, Coahulla Creek, and Ringgold.
Said Ringgold quarterback Garrett Edgar:”Yeah that’s definitely weird. I’ve never had that happen before, so it will definitely be interesting. ”
Said Crisp:”You want to be the three seed in this situation. You definitely want to be the three seed simply because you’re not playing the region champ from the opposite region.”
Said Raby:”I like it. I like our possibilities too. If we do what we’re supposed to, it’s going to take care of itself.”
The Tigers admit it’s hard not to think about that four point spread if the game comes down to the wire.
Said Edgar:”Yeah that definitely changes the game where most people if you are up by three, you may start running the ball late in the game. For us it may be that we’ve got to go down and score. Score one more field goal or touchdown.”
Reporter:”I know Al Davis always said ‘Just Win Baby’. Do you say ‘Just Win by Four Baby”?
Said Crisp:”Nope. I’m still just win. Let’s just win the ballgame.”
