Riverbend Beach is Back!

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- Summer is here, and you can feel like you’re on the beach, without even leaving Chattanooga.

Riverbend Beach is back with some amazing artwork in the sand.

The sculptors say they started two days ago.

One of those days was just spent packing all of the sand up.

It’s about 200 tons!

They spent most of yesterday carving, and will be touching up the sculpture until Sunday.

Sculptors here say expect this year’s masterpiece to have a different theme.

“For years, we’ve been carving the acts down on the main stage, and this year, we wanted to do something, complete departure, do something different, so we’re going to do a classic sandcastle and dragon – a little more like what you’d see at the beach.”

And if you’re feeling inspired by their work, you can make your own sandcastle right here at Riverbend Beach.

If you don’t want to make a sandcastle, at least stop by and get your picture taken.
