Road proposal made for Hixson Pike

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – A proposal has been made for part of Hixson Pike to narrow the lanes and slow the speed down.

The proposal will affect the Riverview Shopping district area.

Matt Skudlarek is the co-owner of the Daily Ration. He and other business owners say they contacted the Chattanooga Department of Transportation after noticing drivers in the area creating danger situations for pedestrians.

They also hope to merge the lanes before drivers hit the village shopping center to help slow traffic down.

The proposal will take the speed limit from 35 mph to 25 mph.

It would also add bikes lanes and street parking among other things.

The changes could take effect by June.
