Road temporarily closed after dump truck crashes in Chattanooga
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — A dump truck crashed in front of a fire station in Chattanooga on Wednesday morning.
Just after 9 a.m., a dump truck left the roadway in front of the fire station at 8327 Standifer Gap Road.
It appears that the truck was carrying some kind of dirt or other material, which covered the roadway.
The driver of the truck was trapped inside. So, Tri Community Volunteer Fire Department crews called for additional assistance and started working to free the driver.
Firefighters said they removed a section of the windshield to extricate the driver.
The additional crews that arrived helped by containing fluids leaking from the truck.
Hamilton County medics transported the driver, who had minor injuries, to a hospital.
The fire department said the road will be closed until crews have successfully cleaned up the substance in the road and remove the truck out of the ditch.
