Robertson testifies in favor of bill that would reduce testing requirements
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WDEF)- Could Tennessee students soon be tested less?
That is the aim of a bill being sponsored by Hamilton County lawmakers.
House Bill 2422 would introduce a pilot program that would allow some school districts to reduce the amount of tests they are required to give.
Hamilton County superintendent Dr. Justin Robertson testified in front of a Tennessee house subcommittee in favor of the bill.
He says it would give more flexibility to schools to tailor their curriculums.
Dr. Robertson said, “We know that we have students that need screened more often, but that we also know that we have students on grade level that we should be focusing more on progress towards standards.”
This bill is still going through committees before it would be voted on by the General Assembly.
