‘Rock the Riverfront’ to feature new interactive art exhibit
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — ‘Rock the Riverfront’ is returning Spring 2024 with a new interactive exhibit.
The month-long festival is completely free and open to the public.
“River City Company, we’re downtown Chattanooga’s economic impact nonprofit partner and events like ‘Rock the Riverfront’ not just help enliven our community, and bring thousands of people down to the Riverfront District, but our local businesses also see a dramatic increase in people coming and shopping and dining with them … It really is a win-win for our community to have a free and open event,” Vice President of Marketing & Communication with River City Company Dawn Hjelseth said.
Each year there is a different exhibit featured.
Earlier on Thursday, the company announced the newest art installation.
“You might have remembered the event. We had giant seesaws the first year. Last year we had Los Tropos, giant spinning tops. This year we have ‘Loop’, which is a super fun, interactive art installation,” Hjelseth said.
“It’s a zoetrope, which many people don’t know what that is. Essentially you have to go back all the way to the beginning of filmmaking. The Loop as you turn the handlebar, it will play the animations around you along with some music. So every Loop has a different animation in it and a different song that will play. So it’s great for all ages to come and enjoy during the month,” Hjelseth said.
In addition to the exhibits, local vendors made over $250,000 last year in revenue.
River City company encourages the public to get involved and share their ideas for ways to enhance the Riverfront.
The company looks forward to seeing the community response next spring from March 14- April 14.
Follow the planning process for the event and what you can offer to the project.
