Ronald McDonald House adds new rooms

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Ronald McDonald House in Chattanooga has added two new rooms.

According to the group, the house now has 28 bedrooms to help families with sick children.

The Ronald McDonald House says changing from resident managers to managers on duty 24/7 allowed the organization to reconfigure their space to accommodate two more families per night.

They say the renovation costs were covered by grants, including a grant from Ronald McDonald House Charities Global.

The Ronald McDonald House says the home needed more space for families because they had a constant waiting list of 3-5 families who had to wait an average of five or more days.

President and CEO Jane Kaylor says that most of the families at the House have babies in the neonatal intensive care unit or another intensive care unit.

The Ronald McDonald House in Chattanooga says they typically serve 600 families per year who stay an average 16 days.
