Rossville Bingo Hall Remains Condemed
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- Seven months later and the bingo hall in Rossville remains condemned after a part of its roof randomly collapsed one night.
“Glad you came out to play bingo with us tonight,” said Bingo Coordinator, Betty Grisham
She also went on to say that the game must go on after their original location in Rossville was shut down for good when the roof caved in one night.
“We had to relocate, so we looked at a lot of different buildings.”
Grisham says their new location took them to Ringgold three months ago, but unfortunately, more than a few players were lost in the move.
“When we first started out, in June, we–I guess we might’ve had 23, 30 people at the most.
“There’s a lot of people that they have lost. I mean, it used to be packed down there, but we’re trying to get everybody to come back.”
“I like the old place, don’t get me wrong. but I do like this one too. This one’s just a little further away, but you know you’re gonna drive it no matter what. So I like that place, and I like this place too.”
“The lighting here is wonderful, the monitors are huge, they’re big here, whereas they were not that big down there. The people, very friendly people, I mean you can’t beat the people that are playing around here. I mean, it’s just, it’s marvelous. If you need something they’re there to help you, they’ll even joke with you, and they laugh with you and they make you have fun, which is all a plus.”
“We did a lot of work here, to get it suitable. We lost a lot of players, but now we’re regaining. We’ve seen a lot of new faces every day. We have gone up to like 80 and 90 people. We have had over 100, but we hope we outgrow this and maybe go to something bigger.”
Bingo is held at the new Ringgold location in the Gateway Mall every Friday and Sunday evening.
