Rossville man shot by deputies after north Georgia chase

Casey Honea from Rossville was killed in Calhoun

CALHOUN, Georgia (WDEF) – A Police chase that began in our area ended with the suspect being shot in Gordon County, Georgia overnight.

The GBI issued their preliminary report today.

They say Ringgold Police tried to stop 26 year old Casey Honea from Rossville on I 75 south around 1 AM.

But the vehicle did not stop and led officers on a high speed chase into Gordon County.

At that point, sheriff’s deputies took over the lead in the chase.

They performed a PIT maneuver which crashed Honea’s car into an embankment.

Multiple deputies fired and killed Honea.

None of the officers were injured.

And there is no mention of a weapon in the GBI report.

The Gordon County Sheriff’s Office asked the GBI to conduct the investigation.
