Ruby Falls Celebrates Big Anniversary

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn, (WDEF) — One of Chattanooga’s most popular attractions is celebrating its 90th anniversary.

And officials with Ruby Falls say they’ve come a long way since then.

Millions of people have visited the attraction since Leo Lambert first discovered the falls on December 30, 1928.

More than 500,000 visitors from every state and continent came through this past year alone.

“I think what’s so special is just seeing that after 90 years, that so many people still want to come out and see the majestic falls, and just see how beautiful it is,” said Missy Montgomery, Ruby Falls. “Not only that, when they’re done seeing the falls, they get to check out the amazing view here at our Lookout Mountain Tower, and here at our Blue Heron Overlook. I just think it’s so great to see that nature really never goes out of style, and each year, people keep coming back to see more and more.”

Ruby Falls has gone through lots of upgrades in the last few months, with a new light show and expansion.

Montgomery says to expect to see more exciting changes there in the near future.
