Sale Creek man taken into custody after 8 hour SWAT standoff

SALE CREEK, Tenn. (WDEF) —  A Sale Creek man has been taken into custody after a lengthy SWAT standoff.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), along with other law enforcement agencies were serving a high risk warrant this morning at the 15000 block of Highway 27.

At some point after authorities arrived on scene, the suspect barricaded himself inside the residence.

After an 8 hour standoff between suspect, Robert Bowen and HCSO SWAT personnel, Bowen was taken into custody.

According Sheriff Austin Garrett, Bowen barricaded himself in a hidden sub-floor inside the residence he was in.

HCSO released that this incident stems from an investigation of Bowen firing a weapon in the direction of two juveniles two weeks ago.

Bown is being charged with the following:

  • Aggravated Assault (2 counts)
  • Felony Reckless Endangerment (2 counts)
  • Felon in Possession of a Weapon (2 counts)
