CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Increasing inflation affects more than just our everyday gas prices and grocery bills, but it also affects the people within our community who are living paycheck to paycheck- barely staying afloat as it is.

Chattanooga’s Salvation Army is reaching out for support from the community.

They are in need of all kinds of donations- from food to hygiene products- all are welcomed.

Salvation Army Area Commander, Captain Mark Love, says although the Chattanooga community is generous, they are still doing their best to keep up with their recent newcomers.

“We have noticed that because of the increased inflation, that there are people that have never come to us before. There are families that are in need now, where the money just is not stretching as much as it did and they’re coming to our locations and they need all kinds of things- food and necessities, hygiene items and just things to do life that you and I take for granted every day,” said Love.

Love says businesses and organizations are welcome to pick up their own donation bucket as a way to help.

He also says there are lots more opportunities for volunteers as well.

In the Chattanooga area, there are four Salvation Army locations, but only the Area Command center on McCallie Avenue here in Chattanooga is able to accept donations.
