Salvation Army needs fans and water for people to keep cool

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – The Salvation Army reports they are in urgent need of both box fans and bottled water to meet needs during the heat in Cleveland and Chattanooga.

They will distribute them to people who need help keeping cool.

Salvation Army officials say nearly half a million people don’t have air conditioning in their homes.

Major McClure with the organization says “We’re calling on our community to join us in this crucial effort. Just twenty dollars can buy four cases of water or one box fan. Every fan, every bottle of water, and every dollar donated can make a significant difference in someone’s life this summer.”
