CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Salvation Army recently sent nearly 60 Chattanooga-area kids to camp. These children come from underserved communities, and gained new friends, life skills and faith, according to the organization.

The Salvation Army of Chattanooga said they sent these children to Camp Paradise Valley in northern Tennessee on June 26.

Camp Paradise Valley is tailored to kids aged 7 to 17.

The camp provided three meals a day and snacks to the campers. According to The Salvation Army, many of these kids regularly experience food insecurity.

Children got to swim, hike, canoe and participate in other outdoor activities.

A donor funded a bus to take the children, the Salvation Army added.

They also said that last year, only eight Chattanooga kids went to the camp.

Camp Paradise Valley sits on more than 400 acres at Dale Hollow Lake, near the Kentucky state line.
