Salvation Army Social Services temporarily relocating due to flooding
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Salvation Army’s Social Services are being forced to temporarily relocate due to flooding issues.
The social services office, located at 800 McCallie Avenue, was forced to close after the significant rainfall on May 2, 2025, caused a sewer backup.
The flooding impacted several programs, including the Emergency Assistance office, ReCreate Cafe, Blessing Place food pantry, and the clothing closet.
The Salvation Army says they’ve relocated Emergency Assistance casework to the Area Command Officers located on 822 McCallie Avenue.
“Our first priority is the safety of both our team and the people we serve. We are working as quickly as possible to restore these vital services, and we’re incredibly grateful for the prayers, patience, and support of our community during this disruption.”
-Major Douglas McClure, Area Commander for The Salvation Army of Greater Chattanooga.
