Sam Pickett Mr Football For Marion Co

Jasper, TN-(WDEF-TV) Marion County’s offense runs through players like Sam Pickett. The do-it-all player says he has always loved the game of football, and it was a love started by his Dad.

Said Pickett:”I mean, I don’t know. I just played a game. I love it.”

Sam Pickett’s love of football started with his dad. I’ve always played it.

Said Pickett:”I just want to be like my dad because he’s real good at it and I would be great.”

And it continues to be something they can bond over, talk about all the time.

Said Pickett:”He’ll try to help me get better, lead me to do the right things on the football field.”

And they get to talk about his highlight plays as he is one of Marion County’s top players.

Said Dade Co head coach Jeff Poston:”You want eyes on him if he’s on the field, you want to know where he’s at. And you’re not going to stop a kid like that. You just try to limit him. You can limit the plays where he hurts you. Make it a big play, not a touchdown, something like that, then you can be okay.”

It’s moving him around different positions to give him the football.

Said Marion Co head coach Tim Starkey:”That’s what we try to do with him. We don’t have many players that we move around as much as we do him, so we feel like doing that gives us an advantage on Friday night.”
