Samaritan Center Kicks off “Spring Cleaning” Donation Drive

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — With rising fuel and food costs, SNAP benefits often aren’t enough to survive.
The Samaritan Center has been working to fill the gap for many years, and now they’re asking for the public’s help through their Spring Cleaning Donation Drive.
From April 1st through the 30th, The Samaritan Center is asking for donations of household cleaning essentials, personal hygiene items, laundry essentials, and more.Wayne Brown, Director of Partner Engagement says, “Because that’s what we need to give out to our clients because those are things that we don’t think about, but our clients do need those and we just want to help supplement what they already have coming in. For instance if they’re on snap or if for instance, they have a situation where they just lost their home and they were burned out, cleaning supplies is something you may not think about, but they need”
Amy Gray, Director of Social Services tells us, “We’ve got about 30 families, individuals or families that we’re serving on a monthly basis. And that takes a lot. That’s almost tripled in the four years that I’ve been here.”
You can also make a monetary donation online, or donate directly through the Samaritan Center’s Amazon wishlist. More information can be found at the Samaritan Center’s Website.
The Samaritan Center is located at 9231 Lee Highway in Ooltewah.
