Scammers targeting Bradley county

CLEVELAND, Tenn. (WDEF) – According to the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, numerous residents have received suspicious phone calls recently.

The caller states the recipient of the call or someone in their family have missed a Grand Jury court date and that a fee must be paid in order to cancel a criminal warrant issued through the court. The caller says that fee must be paid through PayPal or a prepaid card. When the recipient of the call uses the call back number given, the voicemail claims to be the “Bradley County Jail”.

The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office is not affiliated with these calls and they are a scam.

The Sheriff’s Office wants residents to know that Bradley County Sheriff’s Office personnel will never ask for a payment via a phone call.

If you receive a similar phone call, report it to local law enforcement immediately.
