School bus caught in crossfire of a shooting in Anniston

ANNISTON, Alabama (WDEF) Police say a very violent weekend in a northeast Alabama town spilled into a shootout today that caught a school bus in the crossfire.

The Police Chief says seven people in two vehicles began shooting at each other around 2 PM, and the bus just inadvertently drove into the shootout.

No children were on board, just the driver, who was not hit.

But bullets penetrated the bus and shot out several windows.

One occupant of one of the vehicles was shot and taken to the hospital.

All of the suspected shooters are juveniles.

Police say they have interviewed seven of them at the police station.

The Anniston Star reports that investigators link this shootout to a weekend shooting.

A teenager was shot while on his porch.  Police report eight different shootings over the weekend in Anniston, injuring two people, including the teen.
