Schools Honored for Academic Achievement
RINGGOLD, GA (WDEF) – Georgia State School Superintendent Richard Woods visited Catoosa County Public Schools on Tuesday, April 7, to recognize 11 schools for academic achievement.
During the visit, Woods presented John Hancock, Literacy, and Math Leader Banners to honor the schools’ performance in different areas of academic achievement.
The awards highlight schools that have achieved state-level recognition for literacy, math, or overall academic accomplishment.
The Literacy Leader and Math Leader designations are official recognitions from the Georgia Department of Education given to schools based on student achievement or growth on statewide reading and mathematics assessments.
The John Hancock Award honors schools recognized by the Georgia Department of Education for excellence in cursive writing instruction, including meeting state proficiency criteria.
The ceremony was held from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the Catoosa College and Career Academy in Ringgold.
The event was open to the public allowing the community to participate in the celebration.
