SEC Championship Game:”It’s Going To Be a Trench War”

The SEC dialed up a good one for their league championship game.
Current SEC kingpin Georgia against former SEC kingpin Alabama.
Besides the conference title, the winner will likely earn a spot in the college football playoffs.

When it comes to Bama’s miracle win over Auburn, Dawgs coach Kirby Smart doesn’t sound too surprised the Tide executed the game winning throw.
Smart:”Most teams have a play by design that they play from certain yardage intervals. Maybe 15 to 25 for this play. 25 to 35 for this play. It’s not just a hail mary play. It’s a play to try to find a one-on-one, and they were able to find a one-on-one, which that gives you the best percentages you can have.”
When Smart surveys the Tide, he admits it’s hard to find any deficiencies.
Said Smart:”There’s no areas you look at and go ooh, that’s a weakness or ooh, they’re not very good. They’ve got really good football players. They’re well coached.”
It’s a different kind of ‘Ooh’ for Smart when he watches Bama dual threat quarterback Jalen Milroe.
Said Smart:”He is a tremendous, tremendous football player. When I used to ask my sons who they were playing with on the Madden game, they would say I’m playing with the Ravens. I would say why are you playing with the Ravens? They would say they’ve got Lamar Jackson and nobody can tackle him.” Well this guy is a bigger, physical version of that. He’s playing at a different speed than everybody else when you watch him.”
Georgia is averaging nearly 40 points a game, but Alabama has allowed only one team to score thirty on them this season.
Said Smart:”The depth across the defensive line is one of the things that pops out. They roll guys. They constantly have fresh guys in there striking. Playing blocks. Playing with great toughness.”
Said offensive lineman Sedrick Van Pran:”It’s going to be a trench war absolutely. It’s going to be a trench war. It’s going to be a hard fought, physical game. You’ll win some battles. You’ll lose some battles. I think the biggest thing is just making sure you continue to fight.”
