Secret Service finds cocaine in the White House

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WDEF) — The Secret Service found a white, powdery substance in the White House on Sunday. After further testing, they confirmed that substance to be cocaine.

Authorities found the substance in a plastic bag on the ground floor of the West Wing, CNN reported.

After finding the substance, they temporarily shut down the White House.

According to CBS News, the cocaine was found in a building which “houses the Oval Office and offices of some of the president’s top aides and support staff. It was found near an entrance where visitors taking tours are directed to leave their phones.”

The District of Columbia Fire Department conducted a field test of the substance originally. They believed it to be cocaine at that time. However, it was sent for further testing Tuesday night.

It is unclear at this point who left the cocaine in the building.

However, “The Secret Service is leading a full review of how the substance got into the West Wing… including examining cameras and entrance logs to determine who had access to the space,” CBS News reported.

Various reports indicate that the Biden family was not at the White House when the substance was found.
