Sen. Bob Corker withdraws from Vice Presidential consideration
WASHINGTON (WDEF) – Senator Bob Corker from Chattanooga says he is withdrawing from consideration to be Donald Trump’s running mate.
Media reports had him making the final cut.
The Senator spent Tuesday meeting the Trump family and organization in New York and at a campaign stop in Raleigh North Carolina.
But on Wednesday, he confirmed to the Washington Post that he has taken himself out of the running.
He tells the paper that he informed the candidate on Tuesday.
Sen. Corker told the reporter that there are better candidates for vice president and he is better suited for other things.
Specifically, he isn’t ready to become a political attack dog.
But the Senator says he is still willing to serve as an informal adviser to Trump.
