Several roads, facilities closed in Dalton from storm damage
DALTON, Ga. (WDEF) — Dalton government officials said numerous roads and facilities were closed Thursday morning due to the overnight storms.
However, the fire department said it resulted in no injuries.
Here is a list of closures in Dalton:
- All lanes of Walnut Avenue, between Dug Gap and Lakeshore Drive, are closed due to a downed tree. It also knocked down a utility pole.
- Underwood Street is closed at Mill Creek.
- Threadmill Road is closed.
- Needham Drive and Coronet Drive were closed earlier but have now re-opened.
- The MLK Recycling Convenience Center at 1920 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard is closed due to damage to the entry road.
- Mill Line Trail is closed due to flooding.
Additionally, Dalton officials said a roof collapsed at the Mohawk facility on Green Street.
Several apartments at 618 4th Avenue had flooding. Dalton Fire cut off power to the building and residents evacuated.
The Dalton Fire Department had 32 service calls overnight as well. Some of those included drivers who drove into deep flood waters and had to be pulled out.
Officials ask that you do not drive into flooded roads.
