Sheriff: 2 people charged with having stolen car, plethora of drugs
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — Hamilton County deputies arrested two people on Tuesday for possession of a stolen car and an array of drugs.
The sheriff’s office arrested two people following a traffic stop.
HCSO identified the driver as 25-year-old Suzanne Ramey and a passenger as 26-year-old Cadarius Word.
An automatic license plate reader alerted Hamilton County authorities to a stolen car on I-75 south near Highway 153.
A deputy followed the vehicle down East Brainerd and Hickory Valley Road until the vehicle stopped at the Arden Landing Apartment Homes.
HCSO said the deputy then attempted the traffic stop, and there were three total people in the car. One of the passengers has not been identified.
The driver, Ramey, and the unidentified passenger both complied with the deputy and were detained.
However, HCSO said Word did not comply and ran away. A short time later, deputies located and detained Word.
The sheriff’s office said Word left the car with a gray plastic shopping bag. Deputies found the bag and said it contained the following items.
- 80 grams of meth
- 19 grams of marijuana
- 18 grams of blue pills (suspected fentanyl)
- 60 grams of crack cocaine
- $725 in cash
- 1 scale
The sheriff’s office charged Ramey with the theft of the stolen vehicle.
Word faces numerous charges. Those include three counts of controlled substances for resale, possession of meth for resale, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with evidence and evading arrest.
