Sheriff’s office identifies man who fell off cliff on Raccoon Mountain
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) identified a man who died after falling from a cliff on Raccoon Mountain.
They identified the victim as 64-year-old Benjamin Groves of Lookout Valley.
At around 8 p.m. on Friday, June 14, HCSO arrived on scene at a cliff near Tower Road on Raccoon Mountain.
They said Groves’ body was 250 feet below the cliff. Various agencies including law enforcement, firefighters and first responders worked to recover the body over the span of several hours.
HCSO said Groves accidentally fell from the cliff. They did not suspect there was any criminal activity.
However, the investigation is ongoing as authorities await the Hamilton County Medical Examiner’s findings.
