Sheriff’s Office introducing reminder campaign to lock doors, vehicles
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is promoting a new a safety campaign called “#9PMRoutine”.
The Sheriff’s Office says deputies have responded 375 thefts from vehicles in Hamilton county this past year – that number, they say, is unusually high.
Authorities say these thefts occurred in large numbers in Ooltewah, Apison, and East Brainerd.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, many of these investigations found the break-ins were from vehicles left unlocked.
In response to these break-ins, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is joining law enforcement agencies across the county in the #9PMRoutine campaign as an effort to help residents remember to lock their vehicles and their homes.
The Sheriff’s Office says the campaign will give residents periodic reminders on social media at 9:00 p.m. to “lock-it, chirp-it” – to make sure doors are locked and to chirp vehicle alarms.
