Student faces criminal charges for Orchard Knob Middle threat

UPDATE:

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office said they have found the student responsible for making threats toward Orchard Knob Middle School one week ago.

One juvenile student now faces the following criminal charges.

  • Commission of act of terrorism.
  • Threat of mass violence on school property.

Since the student is a juvenile, authorities have not released their identity.

The HCSO said this threat resulted in an immense police response at the school, surrounding government buildings and to surrounding traffic.

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office said on Friday they were investigating a threat against Orchard Knob Middle School.

The HCSO first reported they were investigating this threat around 11 a.m. on February 23.

At that time, the sheriff’s office said the school was in a hold with all students in their classrooms. Several law enforcement agencies were on scene as a precaution.

HCSO said the school remained in a secure protocol until students dismissed at 2 p.m. Law enforcement remained on scene until school was dismissed.

The sheriff’s office is still investigating and has not provided any more information as of Friday afternoon.
