Sheriff’s Office offers Halloween safety tips

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) – With Halloween falling on a Wednesday, this is one of those years when parties and celebrations are scattered over a period of days.

All the more reason to be vigilant when driving and watching for the unexpected in your neighborhood.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is offering some tips on how to make this Halloween safe for everybody.

Media Director Matt Lea was at Walmart on Signal Mountain road on Monday morning to take the message to everyone who stopped by.

One suggestion for safety is for kids and parents to pick a neighborhood with sidewalks and street lights when trick-or-treating.

Another suggestion is to add a light or glow stick to your child’s costume to make them more visible.

And, don’t forget that you may need to pay extra attention to your pets on Wednesday night.
