Sheriff’s Office to Show Off New Crime-Fighting Tool
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is following a growing trend to fight crime.
The department will unveil its new unmanned aircraft system Monday morning.
The sheriff’s office says it plans to use the drone to help locate missing persons, and assist investigators in working crime, fire and traffic cases.
Deputies say they want to use this tool to utilize technology and save taxpayer money.
The Federal Aviation Administration says more than 80 law enforcement and government agencies, plus colleges nationwide have been granted or applied for permits to fly drones.
