Shooter’s Depot and Congressman Scott DesJarlais Oppose AR-15 Ammo Ban
Green tip 5.56mm bullets could be reclassified as armor piercing if proposed legislation goes ahead.
If this happens ammo companies would no longer be able to sell the popular bullets to civilians.
Congressman Scott DesJarlais,"The people will rise up and stop this imperialistic president we have a Second Amendment for a reason and just because the president doesn’t agree with it, we need to do all we can to protect America’s Second Amendment rights."
Congressman DesJarlais added that he is concerned that a presidential executive order could be used to push the ban into place.
"This is not the first time the president has done this, he has clearly done this with healthcare, the FEC, he is doing it with the EPA and other areas."
At Shooters Depot, ammo experts believe any ban on AR-15 ammo could have a detrimental affect for hunters and gun enthusiasts.
Trentyn Murrell, Shooter’s Depot Shallowford Road,"If they can ban these two rounds it opens the door into other rounds that can be banned as well, basically the .308 which is another cartridge that can fit into the AR style or platform very easily as well."
Shooter’s Depot sell a box of 5.56mm bullets for 10 dollars and say they are a popular ammo choice.
"A lot of people like the AR-15 it is a more militaristic style rifle, which is fun, that’s really all it is, shooting for enjoyment for others it’s a form of therapy."
Semi automatic AR-15 gun sales continue to remain high since the 1970’s.
Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, California, Maryland, and Connecticut already heavily regulate the sale and use of AR-15’s and their ammo by civilians.
