Shooting on Museum Street

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – Late Friday evening, Chattanooga Police responded to the 2000 block of Museum Street on reports of a person shot.

Upon their arrival, Willie Edwards, 45, was suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Hamilton County EMS transported him to a local hospital.

Edwards was reported to be in critical condition.

Officers then located a suspect, Shernard Stewart, Jr., 22, on the scene and was detained.

Witnesses reported the victim and suspect were engaged a verbal disorder prior to the incident.

Stewart was arrested after confessing to the shooting and charged with Attempted Murder before being transported to the Hamilton County Jail.
