Signal Mountain food drive donations to help locals in need
SIGNAL MOUNTAIN, Tenn. (WDEF) — Signal Mountain first responders are holding a food drive in November and are asking for the public’s support.
The Signal Mountain Fire Department and Police Department are hosting the food drive on November 11, 2023.
The food drive will benefit the Signal Mountain Social Services Food Pantry.
It will take place between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at both Signal Mountain Fire Stations. Those are located at 1111 Ridgeway Avenue and 5240 Shackleford Ridge Road.
Those generous enough to donate can drive through the fire bay, where volunteers will collect donations.
According to the fire department, there has been a recent increase in families using the Signal Mountain food pantry. Therefore, they are running low on items and are in dire need of donations.
They ask the public to donate the following items: canned foods, pancake mix, instant potatoes, dry cereal, oatmeal, peanut butter, jelly and other non-perishable items. The community can also donate hygienic items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, soap, shampoo, conditioner and shave gel.
Organizers say the donations will be used mostly in Christmas baskets, which the food pantry creates for locals in need.
