Signal Mountain Looking to Rebound From Disappointing Season
Signal Mountain, TN-(WDEF-TV) Signal Mountain lost their regular season finale to Brainerd last year, forcing them to miss the playoffs.
Heartbreak sort of defined the Eagles in 2022, so that’s why their eager to change that this fall.
Signal Mountain soars into the 30-in-30 spotlight.
Even though Signal Mountain won only 3 games last season, they didn’t go down without a fight.
Said head coach Josh Roberts:”Five losses were by a total of 21 points. It’s a moment. We hurt ourselves. The other teams they earned it. We could have done better in situations. I think we learned a lot.”
The Eagles have carried that fight into fall camp.
Roberts:”Every day they come out here I haven’t had that day where I’ve blown up on them yet. I’ve been looking, but I can’t find it.”
6’5 receiver Blake Wolford is looking to blow up again. Had nearly a thousand yards receiving last season.
Reporter:”I hear if the ball is like within 20 miles of you, you catch it. Is that true?”
Said Wolford:”Uh yes sir I do my best. I go and box them out and try to high point it.”
Junior quarterback Cash Keene isn’t too shabby either. He even started as a freshman.
Said Roberts:”You know he’s real calm. Real cool in the moment. I trust him.”
Said Wolford:”He’s like getting comfortable, and he’s used to the game. He plays baseball too, so he has got a good arm. He can chuck it.”
Signal Mountain has plenty of confidence on offense.
Said Wolford:”We have most of our starters that we did last year coming back. So I just think we are going to have a really strong offense.”
Said Roberts:”I feel really good about our offensive line. Lot of these guys have started for three years now, so it’s really going to help because a lot of them are seniors.”
