Signal Mountain Police Department joins Neighbors app

SIGNAL MOUNTAIN, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Signal Mountain Police Department finds a new way to provide residents with real-time, local crime and safety information with the Neighbors app.

Whether it is a theft suspect or a disgruntled postal employee, Signal Mountain residents can find out what is going on in their neighborhood through the free Neighbors app.

The Signal Mountain Police Department joined to provide users with real time, local crime and safety information.

“They can submit to us anonymously as far as sending the video in if they see something suspicious. We can request video if their is something going on in a particular neighborhood. We can ask if anyone has video of a particular car or suspect or anything like that. Then we can turn right around and send out a neighborhood alert to everybody that is on the system, so everybody is aware of what is going on in the vicinity and help them stay safe,” Chief Mike Williams, with the Signal Mountain Police Department.

Residents can upload home security videos, photos or other posts. The app is also for people who don’t have cameras.

“They can get the neighborhood alerts and see what people are talking about and also see videos that have been submitted to the site, whether they have a camera or not,” Chief Williams said.

Chief Williams says tips through this app will make a difference when it comes to informing people about crime in their neighborhood.

“They can submit it to us and it should help us solve cases and prevent cases up here on the mountain.”
