Silverdale Guard Megan Lewis Becomes a Three-Point Artist

    Megan Lewis may wear number two, but she wears teams out with number three. Last year, the Seahawks sharp-shoot drained 113 three-pointers.

Said forward Emily Skelton-"I was like, that’s impressive. I wish I could do that." (laughter)

Said head coach Tim Thompson-"When you look at it on paper, it’s hard to believe that comes from one person. She just works hard at her shot, and we’re proud of her."

Said Lewis-"The more I shot, the more comfortable I felt. The more I hit, the more comfortable I got. That’s when the coach said you’ve got the green light, and it just kept going from there."

    It’s not just the number of three’s Lewis can make, but the distance of some of those three’s.

Said Thompson-"Some of those shots tonight, I couldn’t throw there with one hand. I told her that tonight when she came off the court. I couldn’t throw it up there like that. She shoots it for her body weight and size with no problem at all."

    Get her. Hold her. Stop her. Grab her. Lewis has heard it all from opposing defenses.

Said Skelton-"Before the game even starts, they’re like get on number two. We need to watch her. We can’t let her shoot because she is always in the paper for her shot."

Said Lewis-"Plenty of scratches. I’ve even had bruises on my side where girls have pinched me before."

    No pain. No gain for Lewis in racking up even more three-pointers this season.

Reporter-"Did you have a goal of a hundred or anything going into last season?"

Said Lewis-"I honestly didn’t at that time, but once I could see what my talent could get me to, I just kept setting that goal higher and higher. And I have an even higher one set for this year."

Reporter-"What is that? 114?" (laughter)

Lewis-"Yeah, it would be nice to get around 130 at least."
