Skyuka Hall teacher Michael Morgan wins our Golden Apple Award
Skyuka Hall teacher Michael Morgan is this week’s winner of the Golden Apple Award.
Michael Morgan is in his first year teaching English and Reading at Skyuka Hall but he’s already made a difference with his kids. Morgan focuses on the strengths and successes of students, to build their confidence. That’s earned him a Golden Apple Award from WDEF News 12 Now and Food City.

Student, “He interacts with us and helps us our work and gives us feedback.”
Student, “He’s much nicer than the teachers I’ve seen. And he gives more joy into his impressions that he gives.”
Michael Morgan, “I really like the individual curriculum that we have here. How we’re able to meet individual needs of each student and it’s up to us to figure out what works and what doesn’t work for the kids. Definitely believe in order to teach a student we need to know them not only like inside the classroom but outside of the classroom. I believe it’s very important to build rapport with your students especially when you know you have expectations. You know you show respect towards them. Then they end up trusting you more and wanting to perform in the class from as best as they can.”
